Flight Distance: 582 Nautical Miles
Flight Time: 2 hours 32 minutes
Cumulative Distance: 4917 Nautical Miles
Cumulative Flight Time: 19 hours 48 minutes
This is the seventh flight in the world tour and was flown on 28th February 2021. As you will see in the flight plan in the gallery there was a fairly large diversion so as to see the Mackinac Bridge - so this flight was anything but how the 'crow flies'.
This was an interesting flight in that I flew over three massive lakes in one flight - in order these were Lake Ontario, Lake Huron and then once over the Mackinac Bridge, Lake Michigan. Just to give a sense of scale Lake Huron took 37 minutes to traverse from Port Elgin to Mackinac Island. As for Lake Michigan, it took around 50 minutes to fly down from Beaver Island to Chicago O’Hare airport. This was at a constant of around 245 Knots in speed. Very substantial bodies of water to say the least.
There was some lovely scenery (not just water) as there were plenty of islands as well as some mainland flying. Weather was variable and it ranged from sunny to icy to rainy. ILS worked well this time and brought me straight into Runway 22R at Chicago O'Hare airport. The Mackinac Bridge was a great point of interest to fly over and was nice to see - very much a bridge that is what you would see in many countries but the Mackinac was a pretty big structure.
Next flight will be back up into Canada and then see if I can do a bit of 'leap frogging' across Canada - would like to try and get to the Rockies, but will first have to work out the best way there :-)
Next flight will be in a few days, possibly next weekend depending on work/life etc :-). Until then I hope you enjoy the pictures from this enjoyable flight.
