Flight 2. Reykjavik (BIRK) to Kangerlussuaq (BGSF), Greenland

This flight was also flown on February 21st 2021. It was a distance of 738 nautical miles and took 2 hours 46 minutes to fly. This brought my combined mileage to this point of 1652 nautical miles flown and 5 hours 54 minutes in the pilot seat .

This flight saw some serious icing that required all the Pitot heaters and Wing Boots to be switched on to ensure the aircraft remained in the sky. What I thought was really amazing was that the vast majority of Greenland was like a flat, snowy 'desert'. The interior was really flat and around the coastline areas it was very mountainous. A very hostile environment and actually this led to severe 'white out' in parts where it was difficult to discern the horizon. Therefore, I had to make sure and monitor the flight instruments throughout. Greenland was not a place you would want to ditch an aircraft, that's for sure. Have to say though .... I did not find Santa!!! My eyes were peeled but unfortunately he evaded me :-(.

Next flight to be published will be from Kangerlussuaq in Greenland to Goose Bay in Newfoundland, Canada.
